Cinematic Beach Photoshoot

"We want photos on the beach, but can you make them look cinematic?" Challenge accepted.

Jordan & Abigail's pre-wedding shoot was something special. Although I had photographed couples on beaches before, a lot of my recent clients have been moving towards photos in the middle of the city. A beach photoshoot was a breath of fresh air to me but also a bit of challenge. A moment to see how my photography style could be practiced in a different scenario. And can I just say, I absolutely loved it!

The beach in frame is Fishermans Beach in Collaroy. This beach in particular is perfect for a cinematic engagement photoshoot because:

  1. People free
  2. Plenty of different vistas to choose from
  3. Vistas that look like the movies
  4. There is a walk you can do to make the most of the location

Going into a photoshoot, I like to take a moment to look back at my movie memory bank to see I can get at least one or two photos that remind me of what got me into capturing stills in the first place. For this photoshoot, I kept being reminded of "Eternal Sunshine of The Spotless Mind."

The carefree nature of Jordan and Abigail's romance just felt like the beach scene. The raw and real love that the couple had between each other, felt so real, so similar to Joel & Clementine.

I took that into consideration when I was capturing Abigail and Jordan. I kept my prompts fun, free and as creative as possible to capture their photos in a way that felt real to them.
