Sydney is New York 2.0. Fight me!
Yasmin & Gian were visiting Australia and had just got engaged. In the process of planning their visit they were able to sneak in a pre-wedding photoshoot with yours truly. It was so cool finding out how they had discovered me and it was such an honour that out of all the photographers in Sydney, they chose to go with me.
We started with a coffee at one of my favourite cafe's in the Rocks, Sydney called "La Renaissance." I always like to start with coffee when I can because it's the perfect way of getting to know my clients and in the process, capture some really organic and heartfelt images. By default, coffee in a cafe is a tried and true way of getting intimacy quick and easily.
After this we explored the rocks, capturing inspiration on the way! I had come a little earlier to scout before the shoot and I had found this super cute arcade that I had never noticed before. It was the perfects amount of elegance and character. Christopher James Approved ✅
After we had done our due diligence and explored the Rocks for a while, I led my couple down to Hickson Rd, a hotspot for photographers. We only stayed for a short period of time as (like I mentioned) the spot gets used a lot and I wanted to keep my photos as original as possible. In saying that, I did try to challenge myself by hunting for different angles to what I was used to and I ended up extremely happy with the results!
We continued our photowalk with some harbour bridge photos and then made our way down to circular quay to finish our pre-wedding photoshoot.
We finished our photoshoot with moments captured at circular quay. It was quite busy so I played with motion to blur out the pedestrians. Then we grabbed some gelato! Props are so useful. They put my couples at ease and give them something to keep them busy.
I love making my photos look like moments from a classic rom-com. Props are pivotal in all of our favourite films. They make things feel Real and Raw.
